774,000 jobs: Public Works scheme remain suspended — Lawan
The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, has reiterated the position of the National Assembly, suspending the planned recruitment of 774,000 persons for Special Public Works Programme.
The federal government had unveiled the scheme to employ 1,000 persons from each of the 774 local government areas in the country.
2. Magu not arrested — EFCC
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission says its acting Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, is only facing an investigative panel and is not being detained, by the Department of State Services.
The EFCC said this in a statement by its Spokesman, Dele Oyewale, on Monday, adding that, Mr. Ibrahim Magu on Monday, honoured an invitation by a Presidential Panel reviewing the activities of the EFCC, at the Banquet Hall wing of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
3. UPDATED: Journalists barred as acting EFCC chair faces panel in Aso Rock
Journalists were on Monday barred, from a sitting of a panel set up to probe alleged violations, against the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu.
Magu is currently being quizzed by the panel, sitting at the Conference Centre of the Presidential villa, Abuja.

Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has tested negative for COVID-19, after five days after he announced that he tested positive to Coronavirus.
5. BREAKING: FG announces 2020 WAEC examination date
The Federal Government, has announced date for the 2020 West African Examination Examination.
The Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, stated this on Monday at a briefing by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja, adding that, the examination will hold from August 4th to September 5th 2020.
6. Why Buhari approved N78.9bn refund – Rivers commissioner
Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Paulinus Nsirim, has said the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), approved the refund of N78.9bn to Rivers for the repair of federal roads because of Governor Nyesom Wike’s “courage to speak up when others are silent”.
Nsirim stated this, in response to an article written last Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, entitled, ‘Wike Vindicates Buharists’.
7. Third Mainland Bridge to be closed for six months ― FG
The Federal Government, has concluded plans to shut the Third Mainland Bridge for six months starting from Friday, July 24, according to Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Olukayode Popoola on Monday.
Popoola explained that, the work will commence on the outward mainland section of the bridge, and the ministry is working with relevant agencies to perfect traffic during the period.
